Ice Fishing Safety

Ice Growth

Once the ice begins to form, it’s important to know what weight it will hold. A simple way to figure to identify safe ice in regards to the load you plan to put on it is… (T) x (T) x 50 lbs.

(T) = Ice Thickness     I.E. 3″ of ice squared is 3 x 3 = 9, then 9 x 50 lbs = 450 lbs
